Audio Video Excellence at Sea
Out of sight, out of mind” is a dual-meaning phrase understood when enjoying the luxuries onboard Tony Nelson’s yacht, The High C’s. As she eases out of the harbor, her passengers slip away from the stress of life onshore, feeling total relaxation and comfort.
The discretely hidden systems that are carefully designed, programmed and installed by Audio Video Excellence offer a complete escape without the burden of bulky, boxed machines and tangled-wire messes.
Nelson’s 74-foot Viking is well equipped, with five staterooms, an enclosed fly bridge, spacious salon and a full-time crew. Nelson relied upon AVX to technologically enhance the quarters with several plasma TVs, the convenience of a media server and the integration of the entertainment elements with the necessary navigational electronics.
AVX has been integrating systems for nearly a decade. Nelson was one of the first clients to trust the then-budding company to manage his electronics programming and installation, and he has turned to the Birmingham, Ala.-based company several times in the past decade for its expertise and attention to detail.
The AVX crew spent weeks at the Viking factory in New Gretna, N.J., to oversee the pre-wiring of the vessel as construction began.
“This was an elaborate project, and it required the AVX team to go to New Jersey to the factory,” Nelson says. “They spent a ton of time up there. It was very complicated, but it’s all working perfectly. The quality of people who worked on the project was unrivaled. They really took it personally and wanted to see the project through and make it a great success.”
Nelson has had immense faith in the AVX name throughout nearly 10 major projects.
“Most people would’ve been very hesitant to fully integrate the marine electronics along with the A/V because the marine electronics are a critical safety item,” Nelson says. “I knew enough about the group at AVX that if they said, ‘We can do this. We can make it work,’ that it would. This has been a great success.”
AVX was the first and only choice for this project, due in fact to the relationship Nelson built with the company. AVX has designed and coordinated several systems in all of Nelson’s numerous properties.
Nelson completely depended on AVX to design and implement his vision in The High Cs, similar to the diverse palette of projects the company has installed in his homes over the past 10 years.
While the yacht is the latest venture that has come to fruition, Nelson is trusting AVX for his future projects due to the service and reliability he has learned to associate with the AVX brand.
