Digital Projection Pairs with Panamorph for Perfect Pictures

We know a lot of you are constantly working on a bigger, better home theater experience. Digital Projection, Inc. just announced a partnership that will make that at-home experience even more like today’s state-of-the-art cinemas.

The company is pairing up with Panamorph, who says that its anamorphic lens systems are now fully compatible with everything that DPI offers. When matched up, Panamorph’s products can convert any of DPI’s projectors from the 16:9 home theater format to a more immersive 2.35:1.

This is the same format that’s currently used in commercial cinemas. Besides getting a more realistic experience, it also eliminates the black “letterbox” bars seen on many displays.

“Combining one of our state-of-the-art digital projectors with a Panamorph lens means that you get a truly immersive, stunning movie theater experience in the home,” said Michael Bridwell, DPI’s director of marketing. “Those black bars are gone and the image now seems to wrap around you.”

Panamorph makes a full line of “plug and play” anamorphic lens attachments, known as the FVX200. The MSRP on that package is $2,995. The company also offers the DC1, an automated lens option with an MSRP of $9.995.

If you’re looking to cut to the chase, DPI announced the dVision Scope 1080p, a native 2:35:1 precision DLP projector, back in August.
